The General Module is located behind the glove box. Follow these simple instructions and the GM5 will be removed easily.

Please be aware that certain functions will not work after the GM5 is removed, for example; windscreen wipers won’t work, so don’t use your vehicle if rain is forecast! Interior lights won’t work, windows won’t go up or down, no alarm functions and of course no automatic door lock control (doors can manually be locked and unlocked as long as the double lock is open.) The car is still perfectly driveable without the module.

Step by step instructions for removing the General Module from your BMW Z4. Faults to the GM5 can be repaired at Cartronics, send the module to us or book in for a complete removal, repair and re-install service!

When the GM5 module is reinstalled after repair it is good to go.

There is no need for recoding or programming. It should just work. When testing the door locks make sure that the driver’s door is closed. The module will not let you lock the doors if the driver’s door is open.
